ขุนกระบี่ ผีระบาด (SARS Wars)เป็นภาพยนตร์เกี่ยวกับซอมบี้เรื่องแรกในประเทศไทย เป็นเรื่องของเชื้อไวรัสสายพันธุ์สมมติZars 4 ระบาดมาถึงประเทศไทยซึ่งทำให้คนกลายเป็นซอมบี้ แหล่งของการระบาดเริ่มจากดพาร์ทเมนต์แห่งหนึ่งในกรุงเทพมหานคร

หนังว่าด้วย สมัยนั้นเคยมีเชื้อโรคที่ชื่อ SARS หรือไข้หวัดมรณะที่เป็นแล้วตายสถานเดียวทำให้คนไทยสมัยนั้นฮือฮากันช่วงนึง ก็ถูกนำมาใช้ในหนังเป็นไวรัส SARS4 (ชาร์สสี่) ในเรื่อง ขุนกระบี่ (ศุภกรณ์ กิจสุวรรณ) และอาจารย์เทพลีลา (เทพ โพธิ์งาม) ได้รับจ้างให้ไปช่วยเหลือ หลิว (พินทุ์สุดา ตันไพเราะห์) ที่ถูกแก๊งโจร (สมเล็ก ศักดิกุล) ลักพาตัวเพื่อเรียกค่าไถ่ แต่ตึกที่หลิวถูกขังนั้น กลับมีไวรัสแพร่ระบาดทำให้คนในตึกกลายร่างเป็นซอมบี้ ในหนังสอดแทรกอนิเมชั่นเพื่อลดความรุนแรงในบางฉาก แต่น่าเสียดายตรงที่ยุคนั้นผู้ชมยังไม่ค่อยบริโภคหนังหลุดโลกแนวนี้ ทำให้เรื่องนี้ไม่ค่อยได้รับความนิยมเท่าไหร่ แต่ก็ยังสามารถคว้ารางวัลสุพรรณหงส์ได้ในสาขาเทคนิคพิเศษแต่งหน้ายอดเยี่ยมมาได้
