Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout follows teenage tomboy Ryza and her band of mischievous friends, Lent and Tao, who yearn for adventure and excitement far away from their mundane village life. As the group explores a forbidden island in search of adventure, they encounter a wandering alchemist, Empel, and his warrior partner, Lila, who change their lives forever. The duo agrees to teach Ryza the enchanting ways of alchemy, preparing her for a harrowing quest to save her hometown from a mysterious and deadly darkness lurking beneath the surface.

Three years have passed since Ryza’s secret grand adventure on Kurken Island. Ryza, the only member of her group to remain on the island, receives a letter from her friend telling her about ruins that may be related to alchemy, along with a mysterious request involving a glowing stone. This inspires her to leave the island and venture out to the royal capital, Ashraam Baird. However, Ryza is unaware that this will lead to the beginning of an imaginative new adventure involving a pursuit of the mysteries of the ruins surrounding the royal capital and a meeting with a strange creature that will change her life.

■ Exploring with new field actions!
Ryza can now perform many new actions in the field, including diving underwater, using plants to climb walls, moving through narrow gaps, and using magic ropes to travel between separated areas. These and other abilities allow Ryza to explore various areas and ruins more fully and actively.

■ More actionfilled realtime battles!
Take on your enemies using an improved “realtime tactics” battle system, which is now faster and more thrilling than ever. Speedily switch between characters, choose varied skills, and utilize items in just the right moments for best results.

■ Straightforward and easytouse synthesis!
Utilize several new synthesis systems, including the new intuitive “Linkage Synthesis” system where items are placed in cells called “Material Loops”, that are designed to allow both new players to easily learn synthesis, and experienced players to create unique customized items. Is Atelier Ryza Any Good Though?

Is Atelier Ryza Any Good Though? Atelier Ryza is the first Atelier game I’ve played. I’ve wanted to dive into this series for a while, and finally got the chance to do so! With a fresh perspective, I felt like giving my opinion on how it does as a first Atelier game for newcomers!

The Atelier series as of today has over 20 games within it’s franchise. A unique take on JRPGs, Atelier in most cases separates itself from other JRPG series with a compelling crafting system and a pleasing art style.

With Atelier Ryza releasing in 2019, I have wanted to try out this series for a while, and with backlog permitting, I was finally able to do so. Atelier Ryza is my first Atelier game, and as such my opinion on it is born off a completely blank state. So if you have the pressing questions ‘where to start in Atelier’, ‘What Atelier game should I play first’ or ‘Should I start with Atelier Ryza?’; I hope to answer those questions through this video.
